Prince Louis’s birthday is coming up on April 23, and apparently, Kate Middleton and Prince William still plan on dropping a personal photo...which is somewhat surprising given their recent photoshop saga!
The Times reports that the Prince and Princess of Wales are “expected to uphold the annual tradition of releasing a new photograph marking their children’s birthdays.” In the midst of this update, a royal aide told the outlet the following, “They appreciate the public’s love and affection for their children and know there is a public appetite to see them on their birthdays.”
But when it comes to whether or not Kate will take the photo (which she’s done in the past), sources noted there is no “firm decision” on the sitch yet—meaning they might opt for a professional photographer to avoid inevitable scrutiny as fans pour over the image and hunt for photoshop fails.
As a reminder, Kate’s Mother’s Day photo was basically a lesson in “how not to photoshop an image,” complete with a weirdly aligned background, partially missing limbs, and visible lines where images seemed to have been stitched together. In short, it was a mess—like, to the point where multiple photo agencies pulled it from their platforms and Kate had to issue a public apology.
“Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing,” she wrote on Twitter at the time. “I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C.”
